The Institute was founded in 1962 as a part of the Institute of Chemical Chemistry and Geology of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences as a Special Design Bureau for Scientific Instrumentation (SKB NP). In 1968-1972 he was a member of the SKB NP of the Institute of Automation and Electrometry. In 1991, SKB NP was reorganized into the Design and Technological Institute of Scientific Instrumentation of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences (SB RAS).
